One of the aims of the Ipswich Opportunity Area is to ensure good support for NQTs across schools in Ipswich. We aim to not only recruit high quality teachers, but also to retain them. As part of that, we have implemented a Mentor Development and Training programme, and started NQT peer networks.
The NQT Mentor support programme is being led by CUREE (Centre for Use of Research and Evidence in Education), the creators of the National Framework for Coaching and Mentoring. 90 NQT mentors are being trained over our final year.
NQT peer networks are for our early career teachers across Ipswich, to provide peer to peer support and sustainable networks. This is facilitated by Springfield Teaching Alliance.
